Wholesale and Retail SETA
BSSA was contracted by the Wholesale and Retail (W&R) SETA to offer short skills courses to SMMEs registered with this SETA (wholesale and retail businesses). The terms of reference for this project specified that training offered had to address the skills shortages as identified by SMME owner-managers. BSSA offered training on essential financial management for traders in these groups.
Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry and BSSA have a strong and mutually beneficial relationship. In 2009, BSSA was contracted by the Chamber to train SMME owner-managers. The training was funded by BHP Billiton.
The first phase of the training programme ran from August to October 2009, and the second from October 2010 to April 2011. The third phase was completed in September 2012. From February 2013, SMME owner-managers were again trained by BSSA on request of the Chamber. This training was funded by Absa.

Jesuit Refugee Service - urban refugees
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) requested BSSA to train 69 urban refugees from several African countries in how to start and manage their own businesses.
Indalo Yethu's Women in Environment projects
BSSA was contracted by the then national environmental agency Indalo Yethu to offer basic business skills training to participants in the agency's Women in Environment projects. These projects promoted the involvement of women in social transformation enterprises which address environmental threats in local communities, while generating incomes for women. The projects included agricultural cooperatives, fountains and trees protection, and waste management and recycling initiatives.
Potential suppliers to mining companies
BSSA has provided business skills training to more than 130 potential suppliers of goods and services to Petra Diamonds at the company's mines in Cullinan, Kimberley, Finsch (Kuruman) and Koffiefontein. The Foundation was contracted by Motswiri Consultants to provide the training, and mentoring and assistance in forming joint ventures, to SMMEs in the communities surrounding the mines.
Seda training - CCPPP programme
BSSA was contracted in 2014 to train two groups of learners in the Cooperatives and Community Public Private Partnership Programme of the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda). A major focus of the programme is to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of enterprises.
